This summer in Birmingham is all about food. With festivals, markets and events all about food, it should be a nice few months.
Last weekend (Friday and Saturday) was the Birmingham Chilli Festival, in Brindleyplace. I’m not a fan of overly hot food so I didn’t go. But, as I work in Birmingham, I’ll be looking out for what else Birmingyum has to offer.
The main thing I’m looking forward to is the Bullring’s Summer Foodival: Love Food, running from Monday 22nd July (today!)to 26th August. This is the Bullring’s Willy Wonka-inspired edible garden, which will be the centre-piece of the festival in St Martin’s Square.
I also hear that there wil be chocolate tasting over the next few weeks, and as it’s a ‘foodival I’m expecting free samples!
Birmingyum is also highlighting the markets in and around Birmingham. You can find details here, and hopefully get chance to go have a look at some of them.
Also, if you get chance, check out the cookery schools, masterclasses and tastings.
You can find more about Birmingyum here or on Twitter – @visit_bham, I’ll be checking it out over the next few months and reporting back.
